VFW Home Sponsors

We are so grateful for the VFW Posts in Northeast Wisconsin for donating the funds for us to build the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Home. The Posts who donated for the home include: Bellevue VFW Post 9677 & Auxiliary, Freedom Post 7692 and Auxiliary, Green Bay/Ashwaubenon Post 2037, Duck Creek Post 7534 and Auxiliary, Pulaski Post 9719, De Pere Post 2113 and Auxiliary, Appleton Post 2778 and Auxiliary and Kewaunee Post 3392. The Bellevue Post 9677 was very instrumental in getting a VFW Home as they donated half of the funds.

VFW posts must grow membership because membership is our strength, lobbying power, that manages to keep veterans benefits in place and improving. Membership is votes from a politician’s perspective, so when legislation is proposed by Congress and it is going to affect those benefits positively or negatively, our VFW legislative team in Washington DC alerts our members by way of the Action Corp so they can email their politicians to influence their vote on the issue in our veteran’s favor. Emailing is our only form of lobbying.

VFW posts have a relief find that enables a post to come to the aid of a local veteran and their family in need. VFW posts have fund raisers throughout the year to keep their relief fund funded.

VFW posts provide a means for a veteran to become part of a group that understands what they went through during their military experience. It is therapeutic for veterans to have that social opportunity.

VFW posts form honor guards from their membership that provide funeral honors services for all local veterans who pass away through partnership with the WDVA, VA and local funeral homes.

VFW post members go into local assisted living facilities and recognize veterans in those facilities who may never have received personal recognition for their service. VFW Post members also partner with local Hospice organizations to visit and recognize veterans before their final day arrives.

VFW posts are active & visible in their communities by promoting patriotism on specific and important holidays such as Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. They also host event in their post facility such as bingo or free breakfasts, or lunches for veterans, their families and other community members.

VFW Posts partner with other organization’s projects in their community to maintain their visibility and promote patriotism.

VFW posts partner will school boards and schools to promote patriotism among the youth in the community. Posts purchase fags for school rooms and teach flag etiquette to the youth and provide color guards when needed to promote the schools sporting events.

VFW posts go out of their way to recognize other community service providers such as, police, fire fighters, EMT members, community officials. for their service and sacrifices.

VFW posts adopt local reserve units and partner with the units FRG’s (family readiness group) to provide social get-togethers for family members of deployed soldiers.

We are so very grateful for all the VFW's in our area do to help their fellow veterans and raise awareness of veteran's issues and for sponsoring a Home in our Veterans 1st Village.
