Macco's Floor Covering Partnership

Macco's Floor covering partnership. Jim Macco has graciously agreed to provide flooring for all our 20 Veterans Tiny Homes and our Community Center where all our veteran residents will gather for groups and camaraderie as they work to gain employment for self-sufficiency and address possible issues they may have from their selfless service to our country.

The following is an introduction to the Macco's business from their website:

We’re a family business. This means we’re in it for the long haul – as in generations. Our customers are our neighbors and friends: members of our church congregations, people from whom we purchase our groceries, with whom we bank and fish. You get the idea. We do our very best for them. We make sure they get the best design service, sales expertise, floor covering products, and the best installation.

In 1976, Jim Macco's father opened James Macco and Sons Carpet Warehouse with his two eldest sons. He grew the carpet business, adding several locations in Wisconsin, changing the name of the company to Macco's Floor Covering Centers. The firm now employees over 250 full-time plus hundreds of subcontractors in six locations in Wisconsin, one location in Florida, a commercial division servicing the Midwest and a transportation company to manage their truck fleet. Macco’s was one the first retailers in Green Bay to be computerized, and one of the first to link computers together in different cities. Pre-Internet, Macco bought dedicated telephone lines from Green Bay to Sheboygan and Marinette to link his stores together.

James Macco Navy Veteran

At the age of 18 James enlisted in the United States Navy and served 4 years aboard the USS Quapaw in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. After serving his county he got a business degree and started on his journey. A business partner describing him stated, "Jim tried to come across as a tough businessman but deep down inside I knew a different man, one who was loving and caring and was always his first call when he needed a donation for a charity or favor". From very humble beginnings to one of the largest flooring contractors in the nation, Jim held fast to one basic principle. "Give the customer what they want, if you do, eventually you will get want you want."

James' son Jim, is the very same, not hesitating for a moment after asking if he would be able to help us with our mission of providing flooring for our tiny homes for veterans so they can have a dignified home of their own. Macco's Flooring's partnership with Veterans 1st is extremely generous and greatly appreciated.

Roger Kriederman Jr. who has been subcontracting for Marinette Macco's since 2014 has also volunteered his expertise to install the flooring for our homes. He was instrumental in connecting us to Macco's Flooring and we appreciate Roger very much. His leadership with Auto Junkiez 4 Veterans who are supporting Veterans 1st with the proceeds from their September Car Show is also very much appreciated.
