Oldenburg Family

Thank You!

The Veterans 1st of Northeast Wisconsin staff are extremely appreciative of the Oldenburg Family's generous donation! We will be naming our first 600 square foot Transitional Home the Oldenburg Family Home where two veterans will be able to transition from shelters to their own homes in up to 24 months. We have four different employment agencies and the Wisconsin Workforce Development who will come on-site to work with our veterans and help them find meaningful employment. We are also partnering with the VA Clinic, the Vet Center and many other healthcare agencies to offer them the care they need to be able to maintain employment. Oldenburg Family Military History

The Oldenburg family has a very long and dedicated commitment to the United States Military dating back to the Revolutionary War and continuing with World War II. Bill Oldenburg’s father retired from the Coast Guard and faithfully served during the Vietnam Era from 1958 to 1979.  Bill’s son served for four years in the Marines and he has a cousin who served three tours of duty between 2004 to 2008. He also has two future brothers-in-law who served in the United States Marine Corps, one in the United States and one who served in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. With all that military service in the family, the Oldenburg's felt a need to support the mission of Veterans 1st of NEW and help veterans who may be in need of housing in a village of veterans who will be supporting each other.

With the Oldenburg Family’s donations, we will be able to purchase the discounted materials that will be used to construct the home with all the local unions donating their construction services. It will be ready for residents in the summer of 2024. If you are a veteran and in need of housing or know a veteran who will be in 2024 please go the the application page of our website. https://veterans1stnew.com/apply/

The Oldenburg's continue to be supportive of Veterans 1st and our mission to provide a village of support to our men and women who have served our country and are currently in need of services themselves.
