Veterans 1st of NEW Veterans Day Appreciation Table for the month of November, 2023

Associated Bank Suamico Branch has allowed Veterans 1st to display a table in their lobby for the month of November in honor of Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a time set aside to honor and celebrate all military veterans and to remember the sacrifices of all who fought to protect our freedom. This Veterans Day, we thank all current and past military service members, including over 75 veteran colleagues currently working at Associated Bank and the over 300 members of our Veterans Colleague Resource Group, focused on supporting military employees and their families, advancing veteran hiring, and supporting our local veterans. Associated Bank has also agreed to facilitate 8 Financial Literacy classes in our Veterans 1st Community Center for our residents to help them save money to purchase a home with a VA Home Loan when they are ready.

The Associated Bank Honors program helps reach and recruit military veterans by showcasing the special services we offer to veterans in recognition of their service to our country. This includes a network of support from fellow veterans at the bank, job training, accommodations for family needs, flexibility for active duty and other benefits. Additional veteran hiring partnerships include:

 Hiring our Heroes: A skill-bridge program that connects separating military members to an 11-week corporate fellowship program with the intention to offer long-term employment at the end of the program.

 Mission Wisconsin: A veteran-owned talent attraction company that helps us recruit military and veteran talent for jobs in the banking industry. Veterans 1st is also partnering with Mission Wisconsin for job assistance for our residents.

 Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce: Associated Bank is a Gold Star sponsor of the chamber, supporting its efforts to help veterans succeed through business, jobs, wellness, technical training and family support. Veterans 1st is also a member of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce.

 Hiring Manager training: Our Veteran Hiring: Knowledge and Resources course, available in Colleague Connect Learning, provides information on who veterans are, how to translate military experience into civilian experience, veteran testimonials and more. We also provide access to an Online Military Translator to help hiring managers connect veterans’ skills with job opportunities.

Participate in an event near you
Colleagues and customers have the opportunity to participate in a number of upcoming activities:

 Visit an Associated Bank branch in November to view displays of military photos, uniforms and memorabilia in our lobbies. The top six branches, determined by leadership vote, will receive a free lunch and a $250 donation to their local American Legion Post.

 While in the branch, write a postcard as part of our Camp Hometown Heroes postcard initiative. Your words of support and encouragement will be received by a child of a fallen U.S. military hero.

 Share Veterans Appreciation posts through our social media channels or using Associated Advocates, a social media tool that provides Associated Bank-created content that you can post to your personal social media profiles.

Support veteran causes by joining the Veterans CRG
The Associated Bank Veterans CRG is open to all colleagues who are interested in supporting our local veterans and active-duty military personnel.
