Prospective Veterans 1st of NEW Resident

Veterans 1st AODA Counselor, WI Certified Peer Specialist, and Resource Navigator is interviewing a prospective veteran resident for our Affordable Tiny Homes Village.

Gail: Hi I'm Gail Nohr the Secretary and Resource Navigator at Veterans 1st of Northeast Wisconsin Tiny Homes Village and I'm here with JD who is someone that I've known for a while he was staying at the veterans shelter and I was the counselor there for about a year and we're just gonna talk a little bit about the veterans tiny homes Village and what JD thinks about that Do you have any info?

JD: Absolutely just the freedom alone would be a big step; you're close to other veterans but not too close um so you have a lot of comfort there from the looks of it. They look like they're going to be very comfortable uh and and they'll have some throw a little plants and plants a garden or whatever you know uh a little more freedom than what we're used to uh and from what I've read in the brochures there's going to be a lot of support programs which I also be I believe is is really important right now for veterans. These are really tough times.

Gail: I agree yeah especially trying to find transitional Supportive Housing in a veterans community but not on top of each other like you said. You know you'd like to have your space right and they're comfortable

JD: And you know and to the treatments I've been through and with the housing that I had just left in Green Bay uh he gave me an outstanding opportunity to be able to look at something like this down the road because before these things happen which was outstanding I really didn't know what direction to look if there was any direction at all.

Gail: Then the affordable homes would work for you?

JD: Absolutely the affordable but also you know I like to spend a lot of time outside so and it gives me the opportunity it's affordable enough that I can do some building do some planting and have a a steady say sheltered place where I can live and be at peace.

Gail: Okay well you're going to be one of our first residents I think. Thanks for watching.

JD: Thank you. Take care.
