VFW Post 9677 Donation

Kim and Gail Nohr with Commander of the VFW Post 9677 Ed Simpson

The Winiecki VFW Post 9677 graciously donated $25,000 to Veterans 1st of NEW at their recent 14th Annual Golf Outing and Fundraiser. The Winiecki Post was officially chartered on January 11, 1948 and currently have 101 life members and 102 Auxiliary members. Their members are foreign war veterans with the oldest being WWII veterans and the youngest being Iraq and Afghanistan campaign veterans. They are always looking for new members. Their motto is "Honor the Dead, by Helping the Living".

The Winiecki Post 9677 provides financial assistance to any veterans, or their family members, in need of assistance. They also financially support many other veteran causes and programs like Veterans 1st of Northeast Wisconsin Tiny Homes Village.

They provide Military Honors to various cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day, veterans funerals, and other requested events throughout the year.

They provide care and maintenance to Brown County's Potter's Field Cemeteries in two locations. One of the locations is next to Veterans 1st of NEW. They are currently trying to obtain the names of residents buried in the Potters Field and will be creating a monument for them. They have 10 names and are working on finding any others who might be buried there.

Post 9677 provides a Medical Loan Program. Through this program they provide a vast array of medical equipment at no cost to anyone in need. Henry Kollross is the program manager.

Veterans 1st is so grateful for Ed Simpson and the Winiecki VFW Post 9677 members and all their support as we start to build our Tiny Homes Village for veterans of Northeast Wisconsin!
