Comfort Quilters

Comfort Quilters will be making and donating quilts for our veteran residents including the one pictured above. Group member Mary Bainbridge commented, "At the end of Covid I decided that I needed to clean and organize my sewing area.  In the process of doing this I realized almost how much fabric I had accumulated and it was a really really lot.  I had stopped into Quilting Divas and made a comment that it would be nice to have a group of us meet and sew some of this fabric into quilts that we could donate.  Terri offered to rent us space and the rest is history.  Our first meeting was in January of 2023.  We have 15 members in the group. Between us we make the tops, quilt them and bind them.  As of January 2025 we have donated 115 quilts.  We have since donated 20 breast cancer quilts to Aurora Cancer Center.

We have been fortunate to receive donations of fabric from many different people.  While purchasing fabric one day a lady stopped to ask what I was buying for.  When I explained she said she had some fabric she was getting rid of and would I want it.  She donated 4 large containers of top quality fabrics and kits. I have tried to find small organizations to give  our donations to.  I have met some wonderful people and learned so much about the needs of others.

We decided to name ourselves Comfort Quilters as our hopes are each quilt will bring a form of comfort and warmth to the recipient.  I think we all put a little of ourselves into each quilt.  We all believe that we are making a difference.

Thank You ladies of Comfort Quilters for all the quilts you are offering to give to our residents. Your work is greatly appreciated.
